Simply Red - Picture book (1985)

Picture book is het debuutalbum van de groep rond de roodharige Mick Hucknall. Plaat met een mix van funk, jazz, reggae en soul. Het is een heerlijke soulplaat die nadien nooit meer door de groep is overtroffen. Wanneer je de bij dit album uitgebrachte maxisingles op cd zet heb je een prachtige compilatie. Er zijn mensen die van mening zijn dat de 12"-versies van money's too tight to mention en come to my aid veel sterker zijn dan de gewone album-versies. Oordeel zelf maar. Succesvolle singles van dit album zijn: holding back the years: nr. 3 in de top 40, jericho: nr. 17 in de top 40 en money's too tight (to mention): nr. 24 in de top 40.
