Magna Carta
Magna Carta was een Engelse folkrockgroep die wordt opgericht in 1969. Spil van de groep is zanger/gitarist Chris Simpson. Het tweede album Seasons betekent de doorbraak voor de groep. Bekendste nummer van dit album is Airport song. In 1973 verschijnt het album Lord of the ages. Het gelijknamige nummer groeit uit tot het populairste lied van de band. Chris Simpson ontmoet begin jaren tachtig zangeres Linda Taylor, met wie hij in 1990 trouwt. Vanaf dat moment vormen ze samen de vaste kern van de groep. Op 11 mei 2009 stopt de band op de dag van het veertigjarig bestaan. Een jaar na de oprichting van Magna Carta wordt de Amerrikaanse folkrockband America opgericht. Het titelloze debuutalbum uit 1971 was in de Verenigde Staten onmiddellijk een groot succes. Ook in Nederland viel de groep in positieve zin op door het nummer a horse with no name. Het bereikte de 11e plaats in de top 40.
